best of both worlds.

I really like the look of the long rectangular tables as opposed to round ones. Table runners just look so much better when they run the length of a long table. But I do like the fact that round tables encourage more conversation between guests. This table (it looks like two long tables put together) gives you the best of both worlds I think. I think this is the first picture I've ever seen of tables put together like this. I am intrigued.

I'm thinking about making my own table runners. They can't be that hard to make. But I need one of these to do it.

And I just happen to be getting one from my parents for Christmas! I never thought I'd ask for a sewing machine for Christmas. I'm officially getting old.

My sister did this with about half of her tables at her reception. The other half were round tables. She ended up having to use every table available and decided to put the rectangle tables together like that for the same reason you said. It worked out pretty well!

Hi! I love the look of long tables; especially with table runners. And table runners are a very easy DIY project- the hardest part is picking the material! Good luck with your wedding planning!

I have been considering asking for a sewing machine too... never thought I would see the day for that to happen.

Love the idea... What size tablecloths did you use for your tables?
