shower sneak peek.

This past weekend, I had my second bridal shower. I don't have any pictures back yet from the photographer (yes, there was a photographer) so I don't want to give a full rundown of the event until I get them back. But I do want to share a sneak peek with you of the beautiful tablescapes that were created for the shower! They were so pretty!
The centerpieces consisted of rosemary topiaries and some type of perennial flower (sorry I have no idea what kind!).There was an oleander tree as a centerpiece on the food table.
Beautiful, no? The hostesses did a wonderful job, and I was in awe. I promise to post a full recap of the shower as soon as I get the pictures!

another project.

Please excuse me for not writing an interesting post today. You see, I was busy all night making one of these.
A 20' long teal taffeta table runner (how's that for alliteration?). One down, twenty more to go. They are kind of a pain to make, but look at how shiny they are! Please excuse the random threads, the fabric frays easily so I need to clean up the edges.
Here's a rough mockup of what they'll look like on our tables. Except the table will be twice as long and all of the chairs will be white. And the flowers will be different, these were just leftovers I had around the house.

What do you think? Are you planning to make your own table runners?

more tissue paper.

While we're on the subject of tissue paper, check out these dahlia napkin rings. I'm probably going to use white linen napkins rather than trying to find a color that goes with our scheme. White is just easier and cheaper. I was thinking of placing a real dahlia on each place setting to dress it up a bit, but these could work too. Maybe I can recruit some helpers for this one... my list of projects keeps growing and growing. There's a how-to from Martha for this one as well.

Do I...
a. Take the cheap route and use tissue paper
b. Be lazy and pay for real flowers
c. None of the above

should we stay or should we go.

Adam and I are contemplating going north for the weekend to Packerland (that is Green Bay, WI for those non-midwesterners). We NEED to figure out where we're going to get our rental items for the wedding, or everyone will be using paper plates. Classy. So this is somewhat of an impromptu trip, our plans for the weekend fell through so we decided we'd do something productive instead. The only problem is out of the two rental places I found, one of them cannot meet on Saturday and the other hasn't gotten back to me yet. So do I pack or not? I suppose I should, since my grandmother is excited that we're going to come visit. But will it be a productive trip if we can't meet with anyone? Not so much. I guess we'll figure it out before tomorrow after work when we have to start driving!

If we do end up finding rental items, I can guarantee they will not measure up to this gorgeous tablescape that Amanda from In The Now Weddings posted on Elizabeth Anne Designs today. If I had seen it earlier in the planning process, I think I would have reconsidered our color scheme.

a little twist.

This idea for sprucing up a plain napkin has potential. Just wrap a satin ribbon around it with a little twist to add a little color! I might have to try something like this for our wedding, maybe with a little bow tied around it rather than the twist?
